Lindfield Guide

 Lindfield Guide

From our branch in Haywards Heath, Stuart & Partners operate as letting agents in the Lindfield area. Lindfield is a pretty village in the Mid Sussex district of West Sussex. It stands on the upper reaches of the River Ouse and the name ‘Lindfield’ means ‘open land with lime trees’. There is history dating back to 1098 and it is classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The ancient High Street, lined with lime trees, has over forty medieval and post medieval timber-framed houses. At the bottom of the High Street is a natural spring-fed pond and beyond there is a Common which houses many events; cricket has been played there since 1747!

Despite having a rural/village feel, Haywards Heath is a short distance away offering many amenities. Other, larger towns are within easy reach; East Grinstead (10 miles), Crawley (12 miles), Horsham (13 miles) and Brighton (19 miles).

Old Place, built in 1590 and later the village Poor House.
